This June, we organised the third annual community fun run.

This year, 12 non-profit Jewish organisations participated, among them both Jewish schools, as well as the Jewish Pre-K. We had 410 participants running for all different causes, resulting in 690,000 HUF in donations.

The runners could choose 1, 5, or 10 kilometres.

The races were opened by His Excellency, Ilan Mor, the Israeli ambassador to Hungary, who walked in the 1k race along with everyone.

2013 is a special year for the Maccabi VAC, because of the Maccabiah in July. In an effort to provide a symbolic yet meaningful donation to that cause, we asked all the charity organisations to donate 10{4c1566caee84251e64d2a9a80830c74756efbfbc4da4c715841e50ac5e91e147} of their profits, which was done with ease. As the fun run came to an enfd, the newly formed delegation debuted on stage in front of the Hungarian audience and community.

2013 brought flood to Hungary. The fullness of the Danube reached record highs. Because of this, many people who usually take part in the running preferred to volunteer on the Danube banks.

The organisers were very pleased with the outcome of the Fun Run, and can’t wait for next year, where they hope many more charities and runners will join the fun.

We must thank our 50 volunteers, without whom the event wouldn’t have been possible.
