The Maccabi VAC wholeheartedly agrees with the statement of the European Maccabi Confederation which they gave on Holocaust remembrance day, quoted below:
“Even 70 years after the Holocaust, we can still feel the rise of antisemitism in Europe. It is our responsibility to fight against the hate and racism directed towards Jews. We cannot let the Holocaust survivors, their descendants, and the entire Jewish community live in the shadow of antisemitism. It is important to live a rich cultural and social life, as well as to practice one’s religion freely.
This summer, we will celebrate the 14th European Maccabi Games in Berlin, Germany. 70 years after the Holocaust, we will partake in the in the largest European Jewish event as an active and essential part of Europe. We, Jews, belong to Europe.”
