The Maccabi VAC Krav Maga division is one of our oldest divisions. More than 50 students regularly attend the trainings, which we hold twice a week. Students range in age from 14 to 50. Once a month, an external trainer holds a class, which is different from Krav-Maga. We have had karate, wrestling and Brazilian jiu jitsu coaches train with us. In the summer of 2010, we arranged an extraordinary 12-hour training session, the full agenda of which we worked out, organized the trainings, lectures and catering for the candidates and surprised our more than 30 applicants with a special T-shirt.
Our department regularly participates in Maccabi and other sports events. We also hold open trainings and presentations. This year, in addition to Maccabi Sports Day, we were also held an intoruduction presentation at the Sziget Festival as well as some primary schools. We are currently planning to train a team of 5-6 people who would also hold presentations at such events.
Our goal is to visit the Lauder Javne School next year and educate young people there as well. This is important because the two Jewish schools are quite far apart, but both communities are our target group. We also aim to develop a club life among students so that they get to know each other better, help each other in a social environment and gain valuable relationships. In addition, by learning self-defense techniques, people’s self-confidence is greatly increased, which is very important at such an early stage in students’ lives.
